Why a weekly planner?
I started a Bullet Journal two years ago. Bullet Journalling was developed by Ryder Carroll who used it as a way to stay organised and productive. At a glance, it may seem like simple list making but at its core, it’s a method that goes far beyond. The beauty of a bullet journal is that anybody can make it their own. For me, it was therapeutic, enjoyable and yes, it did keep me organised and more productive. Have a look at my bullet journal journey @vanillanotes.
Eventually, I found that I was producing the same layout every single week. A layout based on weeks and weeks of drawing and redrawing my layout in different ways, experimentation and inspiration from the huge bullet journal community out there. Yes, I say it’s huge because it is. Just search #bulletjournal and you’ll see so much beauty and inspiration!
Since I was recreating the same layout week after week (and because I had gotten a bit too busy to devote enough time to it), I decided it was time to print one. This is how our weekly planner and the Vanilla Beige Shop came into being.
I am still an avid bullet journalist, stationery lover and list maker. But this saves me time. I’ve also made it so it can be customised for different priorities. This planner can sit on your desk for daily planning or be torn off a page at a time to be placed where you find it most useful (like your fridge or by the front door). I’ve given away a few of our planners already and have loved seeing how each person uses it in their own way.
You’ll find my house has a couple of these knocking around. It’s because I actually use a separate sheet for different things! There’s one that sits on my fridge with our weekly meal plan and list of chores to do. There’s the one that sits on my desk which contains all the work I need to do, family appointments and things I need to sort out. I kind of want a separate one for fitness (or maybe I need one like this!) and I’ve been trying to encourage my 11yo to use one to organise her study habits – this after attending a school talk where they encouraged the same.
