Ever so often I find a location that I just can’t get enough of. From the Hangar to Brawn & Brains, Carvers, Long Phung and Dapper, my infatuation with a specific coffee or dining venue means that I’m just there all the time. Fynn’s at Southbeach is my latest infatuation. It’s a gorgeous new restaurant serving casual modern Australian located at South Beach where the new JW Marriott is. They just launched a new dinner menu which has quite a few delicious items.
I first went to lunch there early in the year and immediately fell in love with the gorgeous setting. The restaurant is styled beautifully and instead of the hip or grungy feel of most cafés that I’m in love with, Fynn’s feels rather grown-up. I think of bright, sunny skies, salty air, the sound of waves but with an air of sophistication and elegance.
We had a nice lunch there. I love the coffee by Common Man Coffee Roasters but hats off to the barista who does a seriously good pour. Ask for a “magic” which is 1/3 each of espresso, hot water and milk. My perfect cup, I think! We were also treated to my absolute must-have when you visit Fynn’s (lunch and brunch time only, for now) – the skillet cookie. It is a molten and luscious cookie with oozy choc chips, served hot in a little pan with cold, creamy vanilla ice cream on top.
So taken was I that I insisted on a morning coffee there (the banana bread topped with crunchy pistachio bits was yum) and coffee turned into a lunch where the burger with housemade burger buns was extremely satisfying.
Weekend brunches at Fynn’s
A few weeks after, when I saw on Instagram that they were now serving Sunday brunches, I took the family and some friends there for a huge big breakfast, great corn fritters and a yummy omelete for The Vegetarian. It was also handy to sit outside so the kids could run around in the big courtyard with fountains and natural light streaming in from the awning above. (I wonder if scootering would be allowed there… hmmm.) Book first and make sure you let them know if you need a high chair.
Fynn’s cocktails and dinner menu
Now… on to their new dinner menu. We were invited to try their new selection on the first night of the menu launch. Starting with a few fabulous cocktails, we took our time picking out what looked delish. Good thing we were dining with Anna, co-founder from ordinarypeople.ink so we could order a few things to share. Thank you so much Fynn’s for having us along to try out the great new menu and treating us to a free meal. I will be back very soon for sure.
The best thing to do now is to just show you pictures of what we ate, after all, many say that you eat with your eyes before it even touches the tongue. My comments are in the captions.
PS. For non-alcohol drinkers, their Homemade Lemonade is really yummy too.
